This Privacy Policy is intended to describe for you, as an individual who is a user of our Website or our services, the information we collect, how that information may be used, with whom it may be shared, and your choices about such uses and disclosures.

We encourage you to read this Privacy Policy carefully when using our Website or services. By visiting the Website, and/or by using the services and features available on the Website, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy as they may be amended from time to time. As we update and expand our services and features, this Privacy Policy may change, so visit this page for current information. This Privacy Policy is incorporated into and part of the Terms of Use for Rumidate.com, which also governs your use of the Website in general.

The Website is intended for users who are located in the United States of America. Therefore, this Privacy Policy shall be interpreted under the laws of the United States.

Information Collection on the Website

User-Provided Information
By using the Website, certain personal information may be collected from you including identifying information, such as your name, address, location (city, state and/or country), email address, and telephone number or text message address. We also may request information about your interests and activities, your gender, age and relationship status, and other demographic information. Such information may be collected, for example, when you register or subscribe for features or promotions on our Website, enter into online transactions, complete surveys, answer questions, respond to polls, submit content, including without limitation, text, media files, photos, videos, documents or other information to the Website, contribute to a list serve, blog post (including, but not limited to, comments) or other open forum or community feature that we may make available on our Website, submit a comment or question to us using a contact form or similar feature on our Website, send us an email, view webpages, advertisements or file attachments, or in any other way submit personal information to us via our Website.

You make the decision whether to proceed with any activity that requests personal information. If you do not wish to provide the requested information, however, you may not be able to participate in the activity.

We may also collect and store personal information about other people that you provide to us. You may be able to send information about our content and services to your friends and family members through our Website by clicking on a “Share” or similar button on our Website or in an email that we have sent you. In some of these cases (with the exception of you forwarding our email), you may provide the name and email address of your friend or family member to us. Such information will be treated in accordance with this Privacy Policy and applicable law.

Information Provided by Third Parties
We may also periodically obtain both personal and non-personal information about you (including, but not limited to, additional demographic information) from business partners, contractors and other third parties.

Website Usage Information
We use various technologies to collect information from your computer and about your activities on our Website.

1. Cookies.
When you visit our Website, we may assign your computer one or more “cookies” to facilitate access to our sites and to personalize your online experience. Cookies are small data files that are sent to your browser or related software from a Web server and stored on your computer’s hard drive. Cookies track where you travel on our Website and what you look at. A cookie may enable us to relate your use of our Website to other information about you, including your personal information. Cookies allow us to personalize our site for you and to provide you with information that fits your needs and desires. Most browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser settings to decline cookies. However, refusing a cookie may, in some cases, preclude you from using, or negatively impact the display or function of, the Website or certain areas or features of the Website.

Some of our advertisers may serve you cookies as well. Unfortunately, we do not have control over cookies placed by advertisers. Once again, if you don’t want cookies, your Web browser likely includes an option that allows you to not accept them.

2. Web Beacons / Clear GIFs.
We may use “web beacons,” “clear GIFs” or “pixel tags” or similar technologies, in the Website and/or in our communications with you to enable us to know whether you have visited a Webpage or received a message and the subsequent action taken by you. The information we obtain in this manner enables us to customize the services we offer our website visitors to deliver targeted advertisements and to measure the overall effectiveness of our Website, advertising, content, programming or other activities. A clear GIF is typically a one-pixel, transparent image (although it can be a visible image as well), located on a Webpage or in an email or other type of message, which is retrieved from a remote site on the Internet enabling the verification of an individual’s viewing or receipt of a Webpage or message. A clear GIF may enable us to relate your viewing or receipt of a Webpage or message to other information about you, including your personal information.

3. Server Data Collection.
Our servers automatically collect data about your server’s Internet address, called your IP address, when you visit the Website. Your Internet Protocol (“IP”) address is usually associated with the place from which you enter the Internet, like your Internet Service Provider, your company or your university. Our servers may also record general information including your Internet domain (for example, “example.com” or “college.edu”), operating system, the browser used to access the Website, files downloaded, the date and time you access the Website and the pages that you visited on the Website. Additional data collected by our servers may include referral and statistical information where we have links or ad banners, such as aggregate data including the number of click-throughs that occurred or specific data, including whether you are a repeat visitor, whether you viewed or clicked on an ad banner and used the Website, and the identity of the site which you clicked into from the Website or the site which you came from when accessing the Website; and other Web usage activity and data logged by our Web servers. We may, from time to time, use this information to help diagnose problems with our server, gather broad demographic information and administer our Website. We may also link this information with your personal information.

Any or all of these activities with regard to Website usage information may be performed on our behalf by our services providers.

How We Use the Information We Collect
We will use the personal information you provide to our Website, for example, to respond to your requests and to provide you with our services and features. We may also use your personal information to maintain our internal record keeping. We may match information collected from you through different means or at different times, including both personal information and Website usage information, and use such information along with information obtained from other sources, including third parties.

We use personally identifiable information in the following ways:
• To provide you with information about product upgrades, new products and content, services, newsletters and informative emails;
• To assist us in creating content that is relevant to you;
• To provide you with special offers that may be of interest to you and to improve your experience on our Website;
• To perform research and analysis about your use of, or interest in, our products, services, or content, or products, services or content offered by others, both on an individual basis and in the aggregate;
• To assist us in creating better products and services to meet your needs;
• To allow you to purchase and download products, obtain access to services or otherwise engage in activities you select;
• To notify you regarding promotions or contests;
• To help you quickly find software, services or product information important to you;
• To enforce our Terms of Use;
• To operate and manage our business; and
• To perform functions as otherwise described to you at the time of collection.

Information Sharing and Disclosure
Any information you submit to or through our Website will be held in the strictest confidence. Except as described elsewhere in this Privacy Policy, we do not share your personal information with others except as indicated below or when we inform you and give you an opportunity to opt out of having your personal information shared.

1. Public Areas and Submitted Content.
When you contribute to a public area or similar feature of our Website, such as a survey, poll, question, list serve, blog, blog post or other open forum that we may make available on or through our Website, or when you contribute content or comments to our Website, the information that you submit may be made available to other users of the Website as well as the general public. Such contributions are governed by our Terms of Use. In addition, whenever you voluntarily disclose personal information on publicly-viewable webpages, that information will be publicly available and can be collected and used by others. For example, if you post your email address, you may receive unsolicited messages. We cannot control who reads your contributions or what other users may do with the information you voluntarily provide, so we encourage you to exercise discretion and caution with respect to your personal information. Once you have posted information, you may not be able to edit or delete such information.

2. Third Party and Co-Sponsored Offers and Contests.
We may provide visitors an opportunity to receive offers from other entities, including, without limitation, promotional partners, who have services, products and offers that we think might be of interest to you. When you elect to engage in a particular third party’s offer or program, you authorize us to provide your email address and other information to that third party. If you change your mind and no longer want us to share your personal information with these third parties, follow the instructions to opt out in the Opt In / Opt Out section (found below).

We may offer contests, sweepstakes and other offerings on our Website, some of which may be operated by or co-sponsored with another company. In those situations, unless you give your information to that other company directly, the information we may obtain from you in connection with such contest, sweepstake or offering may be shared with our sponsor and other third parties, unless you instruct us not to by following the instructions in the Opt In / Opt Out section below. In those situations, such other companies or our co-sponsors may have the right to use your information for their own purposes, in accordance with their own policies. We are not responsible for how such other companies or our co-sponsors may use your information. In certain cases, if you do not allow us to share your information with third parties for their direct marketing purposes, you may not be eligible to participate in certain contests or offerings.

With that being said, this Privacy Policy does not create rights enforceable by third parties or require disclosure of any personal information relating to users of our Website.

3. Authorized Service Providers.
We may use third party partners to help operate or promote our Website and deliver our products and services, and may share your information with our affiliates, service providers and other third parties that provide products or services for or through the Website or for our business (such as Website or database hosting companies, address list hosting companies, email service providers, analytics companies, distribution companies, fulfillment companies, licensees of our data and other similar service providers that use such information on our behalf). These service providers and other third parties may have access to personal information needed to perform their functions but are not permitted to share or use such information for any other purposes.

4. Information Disclosed for Legal Reasons.
We may disclose user information (which may include personal information) to government authorities, and to other third parties when compelled to do so by government authorities, at our discretion, or otherwise as required or permitted by law, including but not limited to in response to court orders and subpoenas, and to establish or exercise our legal rights to defend against legal claims. We may also use such information if we believe it is necessary to share information in order to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal or improper activities, suspected fraud, situations involving potential threats to the physical safety of any person, violations of our Terms of Use, or as otherwise required by law.

5. Transferred Assets in Change of Control Event.
In the event that we, or substantially all of our assets, are acquired by one or more third parties as a result of an acquisition, merger, sale, divestiture, reorganization, consolidation or liquidation, personal information may be one of the transferred assets.

6. Information Collection by Third Party Ad Servers.
We may allow third parties, including our authorized service providers, advertising agencies, and ad networks, to display advertisements, or provide applications and services on our Website. These companies also may employ cookies and clear GIFs to measure advertising effectiveness. Any information that these third parties collect via cookies and clear GIFs is generally not personally identifiable (unless, for example, you provide personally identifiable information to them through an ad or email message). This information allows them to deliver targeted advertisements and personalized online experiences and to gauge their effectiveness. We encourage you to read these businesses’ privacy policies if you should have any concerns about how they will care for your Website usage information or personal information. Some of these third party advertising companies may be advertising networks that are members of the Network Advertising Initiative, which offers a single location to opt out of ad targeting from member companies, at www.networkadvertising.org.

7. Aggregate and Non-Personal Information.
We may share aggregated and non-personal information we collect under any of the above circumstances. We may also share it with third parties to develop and deliver targeted advertising on our Website and on the websites of third parties. We may combine non-personal information we collect with additional non-personal information collected from other sources. We also may share aggregated information with third parties, including advisors, advertisers and investors, for the purpose of conducting general business analysis. For example, we may tell our advertisers the number of visitors to our Website and the most popular features or services accessed. This information will only be shared in an aggregate, anonymous form, which means that the information will not contain any personally identifiable information about you or any other person. However, we reserve the right to use aggregated, anonymous data about our users as a group for any business purpose, such as analyzing usage trends and seeking compatible advertisers and partners.

Opt In / Opt Out
You may have the right and opportunity on the Website to opt in and opt out of certain of our uses of your personal information. For example, at the time you are requested to provide personal information on the Website, we may provide you with the opportunity to elect to, or elect not to: (i) receive correspondence from us, or (ii) have your personal information shared with other entities for their marketing purposes. If you choose to receive information from us, each message will include instructions on how to “unsubscribe” from future mailings should you wish to opt out.

We may send you other types of transactional and relationship email communications, such as service announcements, administrative notices, and surveys, without offering you the opportunity to opt out of receiving them. Please note that opting out of receipt of promotional email communications will only affect future activities or communications from us. If we have already provided your information to a third party (such as a partner) before we receive your request to opt out, you may have to contact that third party directly to change your preferences. We will not be responsible for any communications that you may receive from entities that received your personal information prior to your opt-out request.

Accessing and Changing Your Information
We make a genuine effort to respond to your requests to update or correct the personal information you may have provided us. If you believe that we do not have your current personal information or wish to delete or correct such information, please contact us at contact@rumidate.com. We may ask you to verify your identity and to provide other details to help us to respond to your request. If your personal information with us is changed and certain information has already been provided to third parties as described in this Privacy Policy, retention of that information will be subject to those third parties’ policies.

We endeavor to protect the security and integrity of all sensitive personal information provided to us via our Website. However, no system can be completely secure. Therefore, although we take steps to secure your information, we do not promise, and you should not expect, that your personal information, searches, or other communications will always remain secure. Users should also take care with how they handle and disclose their personal information and should avoid sending personal information through insecure email.

In the unlikely event that we believe that the security of your personal information in our possession or control may have been compromised, we may seek to notify you of that development. If a notification is appropriate, we would endeavor to do so as promptly as possible under the circumstances, and, if we have your email address, we may notify you by email. You consent to our use of email as a means of such notification. If you prefer for us to use another method to notify you in this situation, please email us at contact@rumidate.com with the alternative contact information you wish to be used.
